I just started looking into options for obtaining a code signing certificate to sign executables and a msi installer. Does anyone have any recommendations on who to use?

I'm going to say that Comodo code signing certificates are probably going to be your best bet. Comodo is definitely a good name in the security world and their prices are much better than many others. DigiCert and VeriSign are nearly $500 per year for their certs, GlobalSIgn, Symantec, and Thawte are close to $300 per year. Comodo is $180 per year (there are multi year discounts) and their authorized resellers seem to sell for even cheaper, like $85 per year. https://comodosslstore.com/codesigning.aspx Comodo itself has been around and been in the business since 1998, so they definitely are not some small time startup. There are not really many options for free certificates. The few I could find seem to be related to signing Java code, or for short term testing (less than 14 days of signing). --Mike
